영국의 동부 링컨셔 경찰서장으로 취임한 빌 힉슨은 14살 난 딸과 함께 미국에서 영국으로 건너온다. 범죄학 석사, 사이코패스학 석사, 통계 지도 박사 학위 등 여러 자격증을 갖춘 능력있는 경찰인 그지만 딸에게는 한없이 약한 아빠. 이방인으로 취급받는 영국에서 미국인 경찰인 빌이 사건을 해결해가며 딸과 새로운 터전에서 자리잡는 이야기를 담은 작품
